I love going to presentations of new fabrics, and I was not disappointed when I went to see Joanne Fabrics (JF Fabric in the USA) new collection in Vancouver yesterday. Joanne Fabrics is a Canadian company that is family owned and operated since 1977.
I love fabric – if you had not guessed! My Mum sewed and knitted when I was young, so growing up I chose my own patterns, fabrics and wools. Anytime we went shopping, my Mum would always feel the fabrics with her hand, which is something I do as well – love tactile! My Scottish Grandma was a tailoress, and although I grew up far away from both of my Grandmas, (my other English Granny did beautiful embroidery and crocheting) I feel it is in my DNA! Would you believe my initials are SEW?
The Serendipity collection has some great pattern, sheen, colours and textures that came in several colourways…
Pretty mauve and green together. The mix of vibrant with neutral is a winner with me.
The perfect red combined with brown and gray is a favorite combination.
A great neutral palette with the metallic thread – for the black white and gray lovers. If you love neutral I think you must pay particular attention to having varying shades from light to dark.
A bigger sample of the embroidered linen in that great peacock blue combination.
There is a whole book of fantastic velvet stripes – hmmm… a pair of chairs, a headboard, an ottoman… love a good stripe and I could not pick a favorite from all the fantastic ones here.
And a little bling for your drapery hardware… Swarovski Crystal finials!
Lucite finials (and rods!) are fabulous too!
Available with different metal finishes.
If you like a little modern elegance, then these are for you!
Made in England, Joanne Fabrics has a wallpaper line since last year.
I loved this one. Some of the patterns came in a coordinating printed cotton fabric and I thought both the wallpapers and fabrics were very well priced.
A subtle tone on tone wallpaper makes a great backdrop.

Sew nice. (Ha ha!) I especially like the wallpaper second from the bottom. Hydrangea or
primula?
